Red Rock Canyon Run
October 22 &23, 2011
Come join me in some of the most scenic country in Southern California. Red Rock State Park is located within the El Paso Mountains, and is filled with spectacular colors, great 4-wheeling and numerous old mines.
From the L.A. area, drive north on Hwy 14 through Palmdale, Lancaster and Mojave. Proceed north a few miles past the Red Rock State Park entrance. Watch for turn off on the right just 1 mile north of turn off to Dove Springs SVRA area. Turn off is marked Red Rock Inyokern Rd with a very small sign. Proceed about 1/2 mile down the dirt road to the camp area.
This is a dry primative camp out in the boonies, so bring all your own supplies you might need. Plenty of room for both motorhomes and tents.
We will leave camp approximately 9:00am Saturday morning, and be out most of the day so pack a lunch to eat on the trail. The run will cover terrain that is both scenic and offers minor challenges. Locked differentials are helpful but not necessary.
FRIENDS AND GUESTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!!
PLEASE BRING FIREWOOD!!! |

JEEPING JEEPERS JEEP CLUB
ANNUAL ADOPT-A-TRAIL MAINTENANCE
(1N38 – Heart Bar Creek Trail)
AUGUST 20, 2011 - SATURDAY
We will be meeting at the Angeles Oaks store parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Breakfast is available at the Oaks Restaurant just next door and then everyone can caravan to the trailhead from there. Tow vehicles can be left at the Mill Creek Ranger Station at the bottom of the hill or at the Barton Flats Visitor Center (7 miles past Angeles Oaks), park outside the gate as it may be locked by the time we get back. No Adventure Pass will be required for Adopt-A-Trail work. This will be a one-day run. For those interested in other runs, the club usually does go on another trail run after the clean-up is completed on 1N38.
Last year the club ended the day by going to the local steakhouse in Mentone and can do that again this year if the group wants to.
Things you should bring:
ü Water
ü Lunch
ü Work Gloves
ü Hat
ü Bug Spray/Sunscreen
This year we may be supervised by the Forest Service and will need to bring all of our own tools to trim excess growth that protrudes out on the trail. Items like shears and loppers would be a great help. I have an electric reciprocating saw to cut the heavier stuff. I don’t think any pick, shovel, or chain saw work will be required.
When we arrive at the end or top of the trail we can stop and have lunch and enjoy the view from over 8,000 feet up.
If a map or instructions is needed, please contact me at the number below.
If you should have any questions regarding this run, please feel free to contact me at 714-779-1673.

This was an imptromptu run I was asked to put together at the 7/6 club meeting. The run begins approx miles from Polly's Pies in Yorba Linda.
This should be an easy scenic run in the southern half of the SBNF, relatively unexplored by our club.
Bring a lunch and drinks, your cameras and sun block.
Trail Boss,
Jim Arbogast
This is the initail info we had on the run.
This is the information from Trail Boss Jim Arbogast:
Here's the scoop I received from Dan & Roy of the HJC regarding the route I mentioned or a scenic run for us on 7/30. Lets hear some feedack on this. jim From Dan: The trail that your referring to is 4S21, Indian Truck Trail. It is easy to find, just take Hwy 74 to Bee Canyon Road, turn left and it is up the trail a ways, on the left. It comes out on Hwy 243 at Indian Lookout. Turn left for banning pass. Thomas Mountian via Rouse Ridge , behind Cranston Ranger Station, is a good run also, scenic. Cranston is just before Bee Canyon Road on Hwy 74, it ends at Lake Hemet. From Roy: The 4S21 is our adopt-a-trail. Be sure an take the left fork when you get on top of the ridge, it leads to an overlook that is a great lunch stop. It is a challenge in the snow, come up and join us in the winter |
